Medical Mission - June 2009

Again, with assitance from Dr. Mejia, the Nicaraguan Govenment provided us two operating rooms for three full days.

La Merced's medical team combined forces with Nicaraguan surgeons, Dorianela Arguello-Costello and Armondo Siu, to provide reconstructive surgery for a total of thirty five children.

La Merced established a small procedure room at the Roberto Clemente Clinic and performed 47 minor procedures.

La Merced provided primary care services to 26 patients in the Roberto Clemente Clinic.

La Merced donated $2000 for purchase of air-conditioners for the clinic.

La Merced donated $2000 to the Mascota Hospital to cover the costs of diagnostic studies

La Merced donated surgical supplies, equipment and medications (U.S. dollar value = $25,000) to the Mascota Hospital and Roberto Clemente Clinic.


Community Outreach 2009

La Merced established Student Sponsor Program through which individuals here at home can sponsor a student in Managua for $100 per year, covering full tuition, books and uniforms.

Community Outreach Expands 2009

Also in 2009, La Merced distributed medical supplies to shelters on the Delmarva Peninsula and diverted some of its supplies to Haiti.
